Tipos de langostinos
Existen diferentes tipos de langostinos. Se dividen principalmente en dos clases: Langostinos tigre y langostinos blancos. La diferencia es obvia, las bandas transversales en su cuerpo y el color de éstas.
Dentro de los langostinos tigre, encontramos tres variedades.
Langostino Tigre Gigante o Jumbo Penaeus monodom: De gran tamaño y con bandas transversales en el cuerpo. Procedencia: Asia y sur de África
Langostino Tigre Marrón Penaeus esculentus: Tamaño medio, cuerpo atigrado y con tonos marrones. Procedencia: Índico
Langostino Tigre Verde Penaeus semisulcatus: También de tamaño medio y cuerpo atigrado, en este caso con un tono más verdoso. Procedencia: Australia, Japón, India y este de África
Dentro de los langostinos blancos, encontramos dos variedades.
Langostino Ecuatorial Penaeus vannamei: De cuerpo rosado y uniforme, sin bandas transversales, patas blanquecinas. Procedencia: Costa Este del Pacífico.
Langostino Marfil Panaeus latisulcatus: Su nombre proviene del color de su cuerpo, un tono similar al color marfil. Procedencia Costa Oeste de África
